I-26 Exit 217 & Exit 218 Detour

On November 19th, 2016, I-26 Exit 217 (N. Meeting St.) will be closed and updated with an anticipated reopening date in 2019 and I-26 Exit 218 (Spruill Ave.) will be closed so construction can begin to replace it with the new Port Access Road interchange ramps. Message boards are in place and will remain throughout construction.

  • The I-26 Exit 217 N. Meeting Street ramp to I-26 Westbound and the I-26 Exit 218 Spruill Avenue from I-26 Westbound will be detoured via Spruill Avenue and Cosgrove Avenue.
  • Traffic for Exit 217 from I-26 Eastbound to N. Meeting Street will be directed to I-26 Exit 219 (Morrison Drive/East Bay Street) left onto Mount Pleasant Street/Morrison Drive and then two blocks left onto Meeting Street northbound.
  • Traffic heading east from Spruill Avenue to Charleston, US 17S, and US 17N will be directed south on Meeting Street into Charleston, south on Meeting Street and right onto Cypress Street for US 17S, or south on Meeting Street and left onto US 17N/ Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.

Trucks and thru traffic following these detours should not be traveling through neighborhoods on local streets.
